Victoria Artist Darlene Young paints colorful scenes from every day life. She is most excited about color and light effects and is often seen painting out doors no matter the weather.
Darlene's studies include Master's Classes at the Victoria College of Art, as well as studying the methods of other artists.
Although she does studio work, including alla prima still-lifes and larger studio works, Darlene's true passion is plein air painting. She loves the challenge of the ever changing natural conditions and she can be found most days plein air painting around James Bay.
Darlene is honored to be a member of the Victoria Sketch Club and appreciates the mentorship she recieves from its very accomplished artists. She has also been painting and exhibiting with the Alfrescoes, Plein Air Painters of Victoria, for the past two years.

2011 102nd Annual Exhibition, Victoria Sketch Club
2011 Plein Air Sundays at the Empress. Participated in the Sunday Paint Outs on the lawn of the Empress Hotel.

The thing that gives her the most satisfaction as an artist is the joy her work sometimes brings to the viewer. Darlene looks for subjects that warm the heart. It is her mission to bring a little beauty into this world in her own way.
